AMBLER, PA - Kelly Lawten broke a scoreless tie in the 85th minute of play to lead George Washington to a 1-0 win over Temple Friday afternoon at Ambler Field. . Temple falls to 4-13-1 overall, 1-8-1 in the league, while George Washington improves to 6-7-5, 4-3-3 in the league.
George Washington, which out-shot Temple, 19-13, finally was able to put one past Temple keeper Jackie Mauro as Lawten headed one home off a throw-in.
GW keeper Ana Handzlik recorded eight saves in posting the shutout while senior Mauro made four saves for the Owls.
Temple will celebrate its Senior Day on Sunday as the Owls play their regular season finale against Richmond at Ambler Field.
