PHILADELPHIA -- Drexel scored early and often, spraying the net with 14 shots in the first half connecting on three of them to take a 3-0 win over visiting Temple at Vidas Field. Goals came by way of Stacey Blevins in the 10th and 12th minute and Kelly McNamara in the 37th minute. Drexel outshot Temple 26-10 for the game and held a 5-0 corner kick advantage. The victory puts Drexel at 3-7-3 overall, while Temple falls to 3-8-0.
The Dragons were led by two underclassmen, sophomore Blevins and freshman McNamara. Blevins' goals came at 10:28 and 12:30 while McNamara followed with her own goal at the 37:08 mark. It was this energetic first half by the young duo that put Temple out of reach early on. Drexel also won in the corner kick department by getting three in the first half and two in the second half.
Leading Temple for shots on goal was Melissa Foley with five. Minding the net for the Owls was sophomore Elizabeth Tarasevich. Despite three early goals, Tarasevich played a strong second half raking up a total of 13 saves.
Temple hosts Xavier this Friday at Ambler Field. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
