WOMEN'S TENNIS BLANKS LA SALLE, 7-0

PHILADELPHIA - First year head coach Traci Green picked up her first win as Temple University's head women's tennis coach as her Owls blanked Atlantic 10 Conference rival La Salle, 7-0, at the Explorers' home courts. The Owls are now 1-0 on the season.
Junior Ana Maslesa defated Dana Koch at number one singles, 6-1, 6-0, and then teamed with sophomore Jennifer Goeta to down Koch and Sarah Kim, 8-6, at the top double slot. Goeta posted a 6-0, 6-0 shutout at number five singles. Senior Lauren Verrall bested Kim, 7-5, 6-1 at number two singles and then paired with junior Laura Seiverling, for an 8-3 victory at second doubles. Seiverling had shut out her opponent, Danise Chambers, 6-0, 6-0, at third singles.
At number four singles, sophomore Jackie Sy defeated Emily D'Angelo, 6-7, 6-1, 7-6, in the most closely contested match of the day.
The Owls open their home season against Saint Joseph's on Thursday, October 14. The match will be played at TU Pavillion and will start at 4:00 p.m.
