WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TABBED AS TEAM TO BEAT IN ATLANTIC 10 EAST

PHILADELPHIA - Temple, the defending Atlantic 10 Champions, was picked as the team to beat in the East Division according to a poll conducted by the league's head coaches and media at A-10 basketball media day at the Wyndham Franklin Plaza Hotel in Center City. Three players, seniors Cynthia Jordan and Ari Moore, along with junior Candice Dupree, were selected to the preseason all-conference teams.
The Owls, which defeated Saint Joseph's 53-48 in last year's conference championship game, has won two of the last three Atlantic 10 Championships. Following Temple in the East are Saint Joseph's, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Fordham and St. Bonaventure. Richmond was picked to capture the West, followed by George Washington, Xavier, La Salle, Duquesne and Dayton.
Dupree was picked to both the first team and defensive team after averging 13.9 points and 7.6 rebounds per game last season. She is joined by Xavier's Tara Boothe, Richmond's Saona Chapman and Kate Flavin, and George Washington's Anna Montanana.
Jordan earns second team honors following a 2003-04 campaign that saw her score 9.5 points per game and dish 3.6 assists per game. The co-captain is joined by Stefanie Collins (St. Bonaventure), Monica Mack (Fordham), Tanya Rhodes (Rhode Island), and Crista Ricketts (La Salle).
Moore was selected to the third team after scoring 7.7 points per game and grabbing 5.1 rebounds per game during her junior season. Massachusetts' Edris Bailey, Richmond's Christina Campion, Xavier's Suntana Granderson, and La Salle's Jill Marano join her on the third team.
Temple opens the 2004-05 season on November 19 at Brown. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
