2.19.04 | Women's Basketball
Saint Joseph's (15-8, 9-3 A-10) leads the all-time series between the two schools, 38-17. Temple (15-8, 11-1 A-10) won the last meeting 62-61 in overtime on January 25 at Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse. The Hawks are 3-2 in their last five games while the Owls, winners of four straight, are 4-1 in their last five. The game will showcase the top two defenses in the A-10 as Saint Joseph's allows 58.3 points per game and Temple yields 59 points per contest. The game does count as a Philadelphia Big Five contest and while Villanova has already wrapped up the City Series title, with a win over the Hawks and the Explorers next week, the Owls can gain a share of second place.
Sophomore center Candice Dupree is Temple's top scorer (13.8 ppg.) and rebounder (7.2 rpg.) and she has scored in double figures in 19 of the Owls' 23 games. Dupree ranks 17th in the nation in field goal percentage, shooting 57.9 percent from the floor. Junior guard Cynthia Jordan, who is Temple's second-leading scorer at 9.9 points per game, leads the team in assists (4.1 apg.) and heads the conference in assist/turnover ratio at 1.92/1.
Senior center Stephanie Graff leads Saint Joseph's in both scoring (12.8 ppg.) and rebounding (7.3 ppg.). Fellow senior, guard Erin Brady, is the Hawks third leading scorer (10.1 ppg.) and tops the team in assists (3.6 apg.).
The game will be broadcast over the internet through Yahoo sports with Joe Heyer calling the action.
