WOMEN'S BASKETBALL FALLS AT GEORGE WASHINGTON, 61-52 TO CLOSE OUT REGULAR SEASON

Joining Hamilton in double figures was sophomore center Candice Dupree, who finished with 10 points and a team-high nine rebounds.
Cathy Joens led a quartet of George Washington players in double figures with 16 points. Ugo Oha (12 points) Liz Dancause (11 points) and Anna Montanana (11 points) rounded out the double digit scoring for the Colonials. Montanana also led George Washington in rebounding with a game-high 12 boards.
The game, which featured 13 lead changes was a battle throughout. Both teams suffered through cold shooting in the first half with each shooting under 30 percent as George Washington led 22-21 at intermission. In the second stanza things heated up as the Colonials pushed their lead to 10 points, 45-35 with 12:14 remaining in the game. But the Owls battled back and took a one point lead on a layup by Hamilton at the 4:46 mark. George Washington would tie the score at 52 with 2:51 left on the clock and then close the game and the regular season on a 9-0 run to seal the win.
Temple, the number one seed in the A-10 East, has secured a first round bye for the upcoming Atlantic 10 Tournament and will face the winner of West #4 Xavier vs. East #5 Fordham on Saturday, March 6 at Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse on the campus of Saint Joseph's University. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
