PENIC, GOETA EARN WEEKLY A-10 HONORS IN WOMEN'S TENNIS

PHILADELPHIA -- Senior Danira Penic and freshman Jennifer Goeta were named the Atlantic 10 Conference Player and Rookie of the Week, resepectively, for the week ending February 8. The Owl duo helped lead Temple to a season-opening 7-0 win over Drexel on February 7 at the Arthur Ashe Tennis Complex.

Penic, the 2003 A-10 Outstanding Performer, posted a straight set (6-1, 6-1) victory over Drexel's Kristy Pron at number one singles and then teamed with sophomore Ana Maslesa, at number one doubles to defeat the Dragon team of Pron and Brandy Tricker, 8-0. Goeta and sophomore Laura Seiverling won at number two doubles (8-0) over Drexel's Kelly Martinez and Michelle Septak. Goeta also defeated Septak, 6-0, 6-0, at fourth singles.

The Owls next play at William & Mary on Saturday, February 14.
