Former Temple football player James Parrish, who lettered for the Owls from 1988-90 and later spent time with 10 NFL teams, has passed away at the age of 35. Parrish died Wednesday, March 10, at Medical City Dallas (Texas) Hospital after a lengthy illness. He had been diagnosed with terminal cancer last year.

A 6-foot-6, 320-pound offensive tackle, Parrish starred for the Owls under head coaches Bruce Arians and Jerry Berndt. He began his professional career in 1992 with the Miami Dolphins. He would go on to spend time with Indianapolis, San Diego, San Francisco, Dallas, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, the New York Jets, Chicago and Kansas City.

Parrish was a member of two teams that went to the Super Bowl - the 1994 Cowboys, who beat Buffalo; and the 1996 Steelers, who lost to Dallas.

When Parrish left football, he retired to the Dallas area and worked in finance.

Parrish is survived by his wife Jennifer and two young children.

Memorial services were scheduled for Sunday, March 14, at Christ United Methodist Church in Plano, Texas. Funeral services will be held next week in Baltimore.
