SOFTBALL RETURNS HOME ONE GAME OVER .500

3.14.04 | Softball

PLANT CITY, FL -- The Temple softball team defeated St. Francis (N.Y.), 8-0, and Maine, 5-2, in the final day of play at the Plant City Softball Tournament on March 13. The Owls return to Philadelphia from their eight-game spring break road trip with a 12-11 overall record.

In the first game against St. Francis senior Lynsey Grace and freshman Adrienne Repsher both went 2-3 at the plate to lead the Owls offensively. Grace drove in three runs, while Repsher hit one homerun and posted two RBIs.

Senior starting pitcher Kim Watkins struck-out five batters without a single hit. Sophomore Katherine White struck-out one batter in one inning of relief.

Repsher led the Owls in the second game against Maine as she went 1-2 with a double and two RBIs. Sophomore Jessica Rohn aided the offensive effort as she went 1-3 and drove in one run.

Freshman Richelle Villescas pitched a complete game for Temple against the Blackbears. Villescas struck-out six batters and allowed three hits and two runs.

The Owls open at home against Hartford at the new Ambler Softball Complex on March 20 at 12:00 p.m.
