TEMPLE ANNOUNCES 2004 FOOTBALL SCHEDULE

Temple begins its 106th season of collegiate football by facing two Atlantic Coast Conference opponents. The Owls host Virginia in the season opener on Sept. 4 before travelling to College Park, Md. to face the Maryland Terrapins on Sept. 11. Temple then meets three consecutive foes from the Mid-American Conference. The Cherry & White hosts Buffalo on Sept. 18 and takes flight for Toledo, Ohio to meet the Rockets on Sept. 25 before concluding its non-conference agenda at Lincoln Financial Field against Bowling Green on Oct. 2.
Temple begins the Big East portion of its schedule by hosting Pittsburgh on Oct. 9 before meeting Rutgers in Piscataway, N.J. on Oct. 16 and Connecticut in East Hartford on Oct. 23. After a bye week, the Owls travel to Morgantown, W.Va. to play the Mountaineers prior to finishing their regular season with two home games, versus Syracuse on Nov. 13 and Boston College on Nov. 20.
The six bowl participants on Temple's 2004 schedule are Virginia (defeated Pittsburgh, 23-16, in Continental Tire Bowl), Maryland (defeated West Virginia, 41-7, in Toyota Gator Bowl), Bowling Green (defeated Northwestern, 28-24, in Motor City Bowl), Boston College (defeated Colorado State, 35-21, in Diamond Walnut San Francisco Bowl), Pittsburgh (lost to Virginia, 23-16, in Continental Tire Bowl) and West Virginia (lost to Maryland, 41-7, in Toyota Gator Bowl). The combined 2003 record of the Owls' 2004 opponents was 82-57 (.695).
The NCAA has returned to an 11-game regular-season schedule in 2004 after utilizing a 12-game format in 2002 and 2003.
