WOMEN'S TENNIS FALLS TO XAVIER, 4-3

The Musketeers won two of the three doubles matches in what proved to be the deciding point of the match as Temple and Xavier split in singles play. The Owls Danira Penic and Ana Maslesa won at number one doubles. At number two, XU's Kristen Clary and Kate Weightman defeated TU's Lara Ercegovic and Lauren Verrall, 8-4. In third doubles, Kate Lohner and Emily Tuchscherer cruised to an 8-1 win over Jen Goeta and Jackie Sy.
Temple's Penic, Maslesa and Sy won at one through three singles respecivley and it looked as if the Owls would cruise to the win. Xavier, however, bounced back in the fourth through sixth positions to take the win. Senior Kate Weightman won at number four singles in a grueling three-set match over Lauren Verrall, 7-6 (2), 6-7 (4), 6-4.
XU's Emily Tuchscherer took number five singles with a 7-6 (4), 6-2 win over TU's Laura Seiverling.
At sixth singles, freshman Jackie Vilines won the final match for the Musketeers as she triumphed 6-1, 6-3 over Jen Goeta.
Xavier improves to 15-2. The Owls (1-11), will try and snap an 11-match losing streak when they play at Duquesne Monday.
