SOFTBALL WINS THIRD IN A ROW AT THE SPEEDLINE INVITATIONAL

Rutgers scored its only two runs of the game in the fourth inning. With runners on first and second, left fielder Stephanie Johannsen doubled to send the runners home and put the Scarlet Knights up 2-0.
In the bottom of the fifth, junior Aida Esquer led-off the inning with a single to shortstop. Freshman Emily Moller entered the game as a pinch runner, but was thrown out at second on a fielder's choice. On the play, Jessica Rohn reached first. Katie Weigle made it to first on a bunt. Senior Lynsey Grace singled on the next at-bat, sending Rohn across the plate for Temple's first run. A Laura Gutscher double sent Weigle and Grace home, putting Temple ahead, 3-2.
The Owls recorded only one hit in the bottom of the sixth, but two Scarlet Knight errors aided the Owls's four-run inning. Freshman Adrienne Repsher led-off the inning with a walk. Classmate Shawn Casey replaced Repsher as a pinch runner and eventually scored on error by Rutgers relief pitcher sophomore Christina Gillman With runners on second and third, Rohn sent one home on a fielder's choice. Gillman committed another error, allowing Rohn and Esquer to score the final two runs of the game.
Villescas earned the win, pitching her second complete game of the season. Rutgers starting pitcher freshman, Jessica Crosby was charged with loss.
