WOMEN'S TENNIS OPENS DEFENSE OF A-10 TITLE WITH 4-3 WIN OVER GEORGE WASHINGTON

The Owls claimed wins at the top four flights in singles action, which included senior Danira Penic's win in straight sets (6-3, 6-1) over George Washington senior Lindy First at the No. 1 flight. Penic was the Most Outstanding Performer at last year's championship.
Sophomore Ana Maslesa won at second singles, 6-1, 6-4 over Nazli Gencsoy while senior Lara Ercegovic defeated Sandra Simunic, 6-3, 6-2 at the third slot. Ercegovic, a former all-conference performer, evened her record (3-3) at third singles on the season.
Junior Lauren Verrall won at fourth singles, 6-3, 6-3, over Natash Bode, to give TU its fourth point.
Temple will face top-seeded Richmond Saturday at 10:30am in semifinal action. The Owls lost to the Spiders, 4-3, in Richmond on April 2.
