SOFTBALL TO HOST LA SALLE ON SENIOR DAY

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple University softball team (16-13, 1-1 A-10) looks to extend its win streak to four games as it hosts local Atlantic 10 rival La Salle (8-21, 1-3 A-10) in doubleheader action at Ambler Softball Complex on Saturday at 12:00 noon. Prior to the game, the University will honor the team's five seniors in a short ceremony.

In an 8-1 victory over Rider on April 9, senior left-fielder Lynsey Grace went 3-3 at the plate with an RBI and a stolen base. Freshman hurler Richell Villescas led Temple to a 4-0 victory over Penn on April 7. Villescas allowed only four hits and struck-out out five batters in her third shutout of the year.

Hitting .357 in 84 at-bats, Grace leads the Owls' offensive production with 30 hits, 14 RBIs, and 16 runs scored. In 64 at-bats freshman first baseman Adrienne Repsher owns the team's best batting average (.359). With the team's third-best batting average (.337), senior centerfielder Katie Weigle leads the team with 14 stolen bases.

On the mound for the Owls, Villescas has compiled a 10-9 record in 24 appearances. Villescas has not allowed an earned run in her past three appearances.

For La Salle senior Alexis Schneider leads the team with 19 hits, nine runs scored, three doubles, and one triple. In 85.1 innings, senior pitcher Ali Wood owns a team-low 1.48 ERA

The Owls and Explorers last met on May 3, 2003 in a doubleheader at La Salle, where they split the series. Temple won the first game, 7-3, and dropped the second game, 4-5.
