LACROSSE LOSES HEARTBREAKER TO DELAWARE 11-10

PHILADELPHIA - Sophomore Corey Leader had a team-high five points (4 goals, 1 assist) but its wasn't enough to stop Delaware (5-10) from defeating Temple (7-7), 11-10 on April 21 at Geasey Field. The non-conference loss snaps a four-game Temple win streak in a game decided with less than one minute remaining in regulation.
Senior Tiffany Pulaski (2 goals, 1 assist), freshman Johna Capaldo (2 goals, 1 assist) and freshman Casey Cech (2 goals) were the other multi-point producers for the Owls. Sophomore Nicole Cataldo and freshman Allison Frengs each had an assist to round out the scoring for Temple. Junior goalie Megan McLouth had a game-high 18 saves for the Owls.
Jenny Diana led Delaware with five goals including the game-winner with 35 seconds remaining in regulation. Goalie Lauren Burtch had 14 saves for the Blue Hens.
The game was as close as the final score would indicate. After Temple opened the scoring with a goal by Pulaski off a feed from Frengs, Delaware controlled the first half and held a 5-2 lead at intermission.
The Owls would score early and often in the second stanza, tying the score at 6 and 8 before taking their last lead of the game, 9-8 on a goal by Leader with 8:18 remaining. The Blue Hens would regain the edge, 10-9 at the 6:46 mark but Temple drew even with 4:03 remaining on another Pulaski goal. McLouth made the initial save on Diana's shot with less than a minute left but she would score on the rebound to give Delaware the victory.
Temple hits the road, returning to conference action for its final two games of the regular season. The Owls will travel to Washington, D.C. to face the Colonials on Friday, April 23 at 3:30 p.m. and then close out the regular season at Richmond on Sunday April 25 at noon.
