The six-foot, five-inch, 185-pound southpaw guard led Dayton Area Division One (Big Schools) in scoring as a junior and a senior. He also became the first player in Stebbins' history to score over 1,000 career points, finishing his three-year career with 1,139 points.
"We are very excited about DaShone coming to Temple," stated Temple's Hall of Fame head coach John Chaney. "He is a fine young man from a fine family.
We are looking forward to him coming and adding to our team at a very important time for our program," he added. "He, along with (Mark) Tyndale (Simon Gratz signee), are big guards and give us another look at a great future."
Kirkendoll, a native of Dayton, Ohio, averaged 22.8 points, 9.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists and shot 54 percent from the field last year as a senior. Besides his league Player of the Year honor, he was the runner-up for District 15 Player of the Year. As a junior, he averaged 23 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. He was selected as the District 15 Underclassman of the Year.
Kirkendoll joins an Owl team that posted a 15-14 mark and extended its string of postseason appearances to 21 straight seasons with a trip to the NIT.
