4.25.04 | Women's Lacrosse
RICHMOND, VA - Sophomore Corey Leader scored four goals and added an assist for a five-point afternoon as the Temple lacrosse (9-7, 6-1 A-10) team closed out the regular season with an 11-9 win at Richmond (6-9, 2-4 A-10) on April 25. With the win, the Owls gain at least a share of the regular season Atlantic 10 Title.
Joining Leader with multiple points were senior Tiffany Pulaski (3 goals, 2 assists), freshman Casey Cech (2 goals) and sophomore Nicole Cataldo (1 goal, 1 assist). Freshman Johna Capaldo added a goal and freshman Allison Frengs had an assist for Temple. Junior goalie Megan McLouth had eight saves for the Owls.
Polly Purcell, one of three Spiders to score two goals, led Richmond with two goals and two assists. Jen Cielewich (2 goals, 1 assist) and Libby Berlacher (2 goals) also had multi-point games for the Spiders. Goalie Jackie Swansburg had a game-high 12 saves for Richmond.
Temple owns a half-game lead over Duquesne, which plays its final A-10 contest against La Salle on April 30. Should the Dukes win, they will enter the upcoming Atlantic 10 Championships, to be held May 7-8, as the top seed. If Duquesne should fall to the Explorers, the Owls will claim sole posession of the regular season title and enter the A-10 Championships as the number one seed. Temple, having ended its regular season, will lie in wait until the A-10 Championships commence on May 7.
