DANIRA PENIC NAMED A-10 MOST OUTSTANDING PERFORMER FOR WOMEN'S TENNIS

Performer in voting conducted among the Conference's head coaches following the Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis Championship. Owl sophomore Ana Maslesa, the team's #2 player, joined Penic on the all-conference team.
At first singles and doubles, Penic led the Owls to a third-place finish at the 2004 Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis Championship held Apr. 16-18 at
the Tennis Center at College Park (MD). Penic, a native of Split, Croatia, did not lose a match in the Championship, earning singles wins over George Washington and Massachusetts and a doubles triumph over George Washington. Penic is the first player in A-10 history to be named
Most Outstanding Performer twice.
Penic ended the spring season with a 13-4 singles record. For her career, she posted 73 singles wins in her brilliant career.
Maslesa finished her spring season with an 11-3 mark. She also teamed with Penic for a 10-4 doubles mark.
Beatrice Grasu of Richmond was named Most Outstanding Rookie Performer and Richmond head coach Mark Wesselink was tabbed Coach of the Year.
Joining Penic, Maslesa and Grasu on the All-Conference team are Stephanie Bauer and Lauren Clary of Xavier; Richmond's Lindsay Cox and Meghan Wolfgram; Lindy First and Nazli Gencsoy of George Washington; Dayton's Erin Kirkland; Christina Papa of Fordham; and Massachusetts' Dorothy Iwanowicz.
