Watkins enters the Atlantic 10 Championship with a 10-1 record, which is the best winning percentage (.909) in school history, while her A-10-leading 0.73 earned run average is the fourth-best in Temple annals. The resident of Earlville, PA, also paces the Conference with a .149 opponents batting average. She has struck out 80 batters in 86.0 innings and has yielded just 10 walks.
Pignoli guided the Owls to their fourth consecutive second place regular season finish in the A-10. Temple enters the Atlantic 10 Championship with a 9-3 league ledger and a 25-15 overall mark. The .625 winning percentage is the highest by a Temple team since the 1989 squad posted a 31-18 (.633) record. The veteran of the United States Navy has a 154-176-1 (.467) record at Temple.
Grace tops Temple in hitting with a .367 average. Also an all-conference selection as a sophomore in 2002, the New Bedford, MA native also leads the squad in runs (22), hits (44), home runs (5) and RBI (26).
Temple, the #2-seed in the A-10 Championship, opens play against #3-seed Saint Joseph's Thursday at 2:00 p.m. The Owls have defeated the Hawks the last 12 meetings.
