LACROSSE FALLS AT No. 3 MARYLAND, 22-4 IN NCAA OPENING ROUND

COLLEGE PARK, MD - For the second straight season, the Temple lacrosse team (11-8) fell in the first round of the NCAA Division I Women's Lacrosse Championship by double-digits at the University of Maryland. This time, the Owls came up on the short side of a 22-4 score on May 13 as they were outshot 46-21 on the afternoon.
Freshman Allison Frengs was one of four Temple players to score in the game. Frengs added an assist and was the only multi-point performer among the Owls. Senior Tiffany Pulaski along with freshmen Johna Capaldo and Casey Cech were the other goal scorers for Temple. Sophomore Nicole Cataldo earned a point with an assist for the Owls. Goalie Megan Mclouth had 12 saves for Temple.
Kelly Coppedge led Maryland with a game-high five goals and two assists. Brooke Richards and Delia Cox eaxh had three goals for the Terrapins and Jessica Dorney, who scored a single goal, had a game-high four assists for Maryland. Goalie Kirah Miles, who saw most of the action in the cage for the Terrapins, had five saves.
Maryland scored the first two goals of the game before Temple countered with a goal by Pulaski to close the gap to 2-1. Pulaski would later have a goal disallowed due to a crease violation while the Terrapins would ride a 10-3 draw control advantage to go on a 9-0 run to lead 11-1 at intermission.
In the second half, the Owls struck first on Frengs' goal at the 28:41 mark but the Maryland assault on the Temple goal continued. The Terrapins finished the game on an 8-0, scoring twice in the final 30 seconds, to seal the victory and advance to the NCAA's second round.
