THREE STANDOUTS SIGN TO PLAY SOFTBALL AT TEMPLE

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple University head softball coach Rocci Pignoli announced that the Owls have signed Brittany Burks, Amanda Carver and Jennifer Nacianceno to national letters of intent. The signings mark the first three student-athletes to commit to the Temple softball team for the 2005 season.

Burks, a native of Ontario, Calif., is a two-year all-league selection at Ontario Christian High School. Listed in the 2002 through 2004 editions of Who's Who in Sports, Burks, an outfielder, also plays for the American Pastime Gold traveling team under coach Larry Farnworth.

Carver, a shortstop from Canyon Springs High School in Moreno Valley, Calif., is a three-time all-league selection, earning Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2004. She is also a member of the Southern California Vipers Gold traveling team.

A pitcher at Porterville High School in Porterville, Calif., Nacianceno earned all-league honors the previous three seasons. Also a first-team All-Orange Belt honoree in 2001 and 2002, Nacianceno plays travel ball for the Visalia Sting.
