PULASKI POWERS LACROSSE TO A-10 FINAL

CORNING, N.Y. - Senior Tiffany Pulaski scored a game-high six points (5 goals, 1 assist) to lead the Temple lacrosse team (10-7) past UMass, 13-9 in the semifinals of the 2004 Atlantic 10 Women's Lacrosse Championship on May 7. The three-time defending champion Owls will face top seed Duquesne (14-3), a 12-7 winner over host St. Bonaventure, in the finals on Saturday, May 8 at 3:00 p.m.
Sophomore Corey Leader (4 goals, 1 assist) and freshman Allison Frengs (3 goals) were the other multi-point performers for Temple. Senior Maire DesMarias added a goal while sophomore Nicole Cataldo and freshman Casey Cech each had an assist for the Owls. Goalie Megan McLouth was stellar in the cage as she faced 33 shots and recorded 15 saves.
Tracey Drown led UMass with three goals. Emma Butcher added two goals for the Minutewomen. Goalie Lauren McCarthy faced 31 shots and had seven saves for UMass.
The Minutewomen seized the early lead in the game, scoring the first two goals of the contest to hold a 2-0 advantage before the game was three minutes old. The Owls dug in and battled back, scoring the next four goals, three off the stick of Pulaski to surge ahead. UMass then closed the first half on a 4-1 run to lead at halftime 6-5. Although the Minutewomen would score the first goal of the second half, the Owls would dominate play after intermission, outscoring UMass 8-3 down the stretch to seal the win and earn the opportunity to defend their A-10 crown.
