TEMPLE FOOTBALL TO HOST VIRGINIA ON ESPN2 IN SEASON-OPENER

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics today announced that the Owls will host Virginia in a nationally-televised contest on ESPN2 at Lincoln Financial Field on Saturday, Sept. 4, at 12 noon.

The contest between the Owls and Cavaliers will mark the season-opener for both clubs and the first gridiron meeting between the schools. Virginia is ranked No. 19 in ESPN.com's post-spring football rankings determined by Ivan Maisel. The Cavaliers return 39 lettermen, including 16 starters, from a team that concluded the 2003 season with a 8-5 record (4-4 ACC) and defeated Pittsburgh 23-16 in the Continental Tire Bowl.

Temple also announced game times for its non-conference contests and home games.

Temple Football season tickets are currently on sale by calling the Temple Ticket Office at 215-204-5040 or visiting www.owlsports.com. Packages start as low as $60 per seat. Tickets for individual games will go on sale via TicketMaster on July 12, 2004.
