WOMEN'S SOCCER SET TO OPEN FIRST SEASON AT AMBLER FIELD

8.27.04 | Women's Soccer

AMBLER, PA -- The Temple women's soccer team will open its 2004 season Sunday, August 29th, at its new home, Ambler Soccer Field located on the University's Ambler campus. The Owls will take on the Lehigh Mountain Hawks in non-conference play at 1:00 p.m.. David Jones, entering his first full season as head coach, is looking forward to seeing the team compete at the new venue. With 17 returnees, 10 of them starters, Temple hopes to post a strong showing this season.

This year's Owls are keenly focused on fielding a strong defense. One of the key returnees in the backfield is junior Trish Dalton. In her third year as a starter, Dalton brings strength and experience to her role on the field. Fellow junior Jackie Conn gives Jones two quality backs to build his defense around.

Senior captains Courtney Eaton and Christine McInaw will control the game from the midfield. Both are fourth-year starters who lead by example on and off the field. In their last season playing for the Owls, Eaton and McInaw will be looking to make a significant impact on the program.

Offensively, the team will look to twin sisters Samantha and Stephanie Vietry, two of last season's leading scorers. Other offensive players to watch will be senior Melissa Foley and sophomores Kelly Lare and Katie Louth.
