TEMPLE WOMEN'S SOCCER TOPS GEORGE WASHINGTON IN DOUBLE OVERTIME THRILLER

AMBLER, PA -- Freshman Charisma Wright scored her first goal of the season in the 118th minute to lift Temple to a 3-2 overtime victory over George Washington in an Atlantic 10 Conference match on Sunday, October 16.
George Washington kicked off the first half scoring courtesy of a penalty kick at 15:43 by team co-captain Ina Kain. Temple responded just six minutes later when Stephanie Vietry's cross to Kersha Walker found its way past Colonial goalkeeper Anna Handzlik.
George Washington opened up the scoring in the second half at 49:28 when senior co-captain Lise Backman scored an unassisted goal. Temple came back just 20 minutes later when freshman Wendy Halina took the cross from senior co-captain Stephanie Vietry. It was Halina's first goal of the season.
The Owls played their best contest of the year, holding their own with their Atlantic 10 rivals throughout the contest. The Colonials out shot the Owls 23-15, including 7-0 in the first overtime. Tiffany Kasunich was sensational all game, keeping the Owls in the contest with an incredible 11 saves.
The Owls next take on cross-city rivals and fellow Atlantic 10 Conference member Saint Joseph's on Friday at 3:00 at Ambler Field.
