MASLESA, KURASHIMA COMPETE AT ITA EAST REGIONALS

WEST POINT, NY--Ana Maslesa and Yuri Kurashima rolled through the doubles bracket Sunday at the ITA East Regionals hosted by Army. The eighth-seeded duo defeated American's Julia Colarusso and Anne Magellan 8-1 to open doubles play and went on to down Army's Megan Noble and Christine Ong. On Monday they fell to Syracuse's Victoria Vaynberg and Catherine Zawadzki, 8-3.
In singles action, Kurashima defeated Penn's Alexis Plukas, 7-5, 6-1, in the first round but fell to 17th-seeded Szilvia Szegedi of Boston College, 6-2, 6-4 in the second round. Maslesa had a bye in the first round and fell to Maryland's Neda Mihneya, 6-1, 6-1 in the second round.
