PHILADELPHIA -- Gene Corrigan, one of the top athletic administrators over the past quarter century, will serve as a consultant to Temple University in its search for a new head football coach, announced Director of Athletics Bill Bradshaw.   Bradshaw also announced that Senior Vice President Clay Armbrister, Faculty Athletics Representative JoAnne Epps, University legal counsel George Moore and Owl Club President Harris Chernow, Esq. would comprise the University's four-member search committee.

"This is an extremely important hire not just for the future of Temple football, but for Temple athletics," Bradshaw said.  "I feel we have the right people in place to make the best decision for Temple."

Corrigan brings with him a prestigious resume to his role as a consultant.  An All-America men's lacrosse player as a student athlete at Duke University, he has served as Director of Athletics at Washington & Lee University, the University of Virginia and the University of Notre Dame.  He also is a former Commissioner of the Atlantic Coast Conference and is a Past President of the NCAA.

"Gene Corrigan is one of the most respected men in collegiate athletics, and lends instant credibility to the search," Bradshaw said.

In his third year at Temple, Armbrister, a former football player at the University of Pennsylvania, oversees athletics and directly reports to University President Dr. David Adamany.  Epps, in her 11th and final year as the University's Faculty Athletics Representative, is Associate Dean of the Temple University Beasley School of Law.  Moore, a strong advocate of Temple athletics, is in his 16th year as the University's legal counsel.  In his third year as President of the Owl Club, Chernow (Temple '85), a partner at the legal firm of Chernow, Katz, LLC, will represent the Temple alumni community.

"We could not have four better individuals to assess the academic integrity, athletic accomplishments and personal character of the candidates than are on this committee," Bradshaw said.

The committee will now proceed with narrowing the field of candidates with the goal of recommending to Adamany and Bradshaw their selection by December 1.
