WOMEN'S SOCCER FALLS TO DUQUESNE, 2-0

AMBLER, PA -- The Temple women's soccer team fell to Duquesne, 2-0, on Sunday October 9 in an Atlantic 10 Conference match at Ambler Field.

The Dukes (9-2-1) opened the scoring in the 50th minute of play as freshman midfielder Shannon Rengers sent the ball up the field to senior midfielder Erica Carey.  Carey then blasted the ball past Temple goalkeeper Tiffany Kasunich.  It was Carey's fourth goal of the season.

 

Duquesne added an insurance goal in the 71st minute when freshman Michelle Esposito scored an unassisted goal.  

 

In goal, Kasunich registered six saves while Duquesne's keeper, Virginia Bondi, recorded four. The Dukes out shot the Owls (1-11-0), 14-5.  Temple's Kaitlin Gavaghan had two shots on goal while Katrina Lynch, Kersha Walker and Kate Lamplugh each recorded a single shot on goal. The shutout was Duquesne's seventh of the season. 

 

The Owls next take on Penn in a non-conference match at Rhodes Field at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, October 12.
