KENT STATE TOPS TEMPLE IN CHARLOTTE TOURNAMENT

CHARLOTTE, NC -- Kent State erupted for six runs in the first inning, all coming off of Temple ace Richelle Villescas, in posting a 12-1 win over the Temple Owls in the opening game of play in the Holiday Inn Green & White Tournament hosted by the University of Charlotte.
Freshman shortstop Kim Hamilton went four-for-four at the plate with two doubles, two RBI and two runs scored in leading the 18 hits Golden Flashes attack. Sophomore pitcher Brittney Robinson allowed four hits and struck out five in notching the win.
The Owls lone run cam off a solo homer by sophomore first baseman Adrienne Repsher, Freshman Jen Nacianceno relieved Villescas (2-3), tossing three innings and allowing 11 hits and six runs, four earned.
Temple (2-4) continues play Saturday with a game against Virginia at 2:30 p.m.
