SOFTBALL DROPS TWO AT SPEEDLINE INVITATIONAL

TAMPA, FL -- The Temple softball team dropped its first two games at the Speedline Invitational, falling to #9 Baylor, 7-1, and to Central Florida, 3-2.  The Owls, 6-13, continue play with a game against Long Island on Friday (4:00 p.m.).

 

Chelsi Lake led Baylor, blasting a two-run home run, her team-leading eighth of the season, over the left field wall in the seventh inning to give Baylor a 7-1 lead.

 

Temple broke-up Cristin Vitek's (7-2) perfect game in the fifth inning, Nicole Jackson worked the final 1.2 innings for the Lady Bears, allowing one hit and zero runs to close out the win.

 

Temple freshman Jen Nacianceno fell to 0-3 on the season, allowing seven runs on eight hits in seven innings of work.

 

No details were available from the Central Florida game.
