#1 SEEDED OWLS TAKE ON SAINT JOSEPH'S IN A-10 QUARTERFINAL

WASHINGTON, DC- The Temple women (24-3), who went 16-0 in the regular A-10 season to earn a first round bye, will take on the Saint Joseph's University Hawks (7-22, 4-12 A-10) on Saturday at noon in the quarterfinal round of the Atlantic 10 Tournament. The Hawks defeated the LaSalle Explorers, 56-50 on Friday to advance to the next round. The game can be heard live on owlsports.com.
This is the third meeting of the season between the Philly rivals, with the Owls holding a 2-0 advantage. Temple handled the Hawks in virtually the same fashion in both meetings this season. On January 10th, Temple topped Saint Joe's 68-49 for its 16th straight win. Just last Sunday, the Owls defeated SJU, 69-46, to finish a perfect 16-0 in the conference and extend their winning streak to 21 games.
Candice Dupree, the 2004-05 A-10 Player of the Year, leads Temple with 16.0 ppg and 9.2 rpg. Cynthia Jordan is next with 12.9 ppg and 4.30 assists per game, while Kamesha Hairston is third with 12.7 ppg and 6.0 rpg.
Ayahna Cornish leads SJU with 12.2 ppg and Erica Pollock is the Hawks' rebounding leader (6.3 rpg). Cornish scored 18 points in the win over LaSalle, while Pollock added a career-high 14 rebounds.
