OWLS FALL TO #15/16 FLORIDA AT USF TOURNAMENT

TAMPA, FL -- The Temple softball team ran into another nationally-ranked opponent at the USF-Louisville Slugger Tournament. This time it was #15/16 Florida and the Gators (17-6), led by pitchers Amanda Knowles and Stacey Stevens, downed the Owls, 6-0. Temple falls to 5-10 on the season.
Florida scored a run in each of the first three innings off freshman pitcher Cara L'Etoile (0-2). Sophomore Richelle Villescas took over for Temple in the third and allowed three runs on five hits over the final five innings.
Leftfielder Lindsey Cameron led the Gator attack, going 2-4 with a homer, two runs scored and two RBI. Brittany Burks, Aida Esquer and Melissa McCartney accounted for the Owls three hits in the contest.
Temple next plays South Florida and Michigan State on Tuesday in Tampa..
