TEMPLE WOMEN'S LACROSSE HANDS UMASS FIFTH STRAIGHT LOSS, 12-6

PHILADELPHIA- Lewis and Clark, Penn and Teller, Frengs and Glavin.  In the tradition of great pairs, Temple's offensive duo of Allison Frengs and Patty Glavin scored a total of seven goals to lead the Owls over the visiting Massachusetts Minutewomen, 12-6, on Friday afternoon at Temple's Geasey Field.  Frengs found the back of the net four times, while Glavin notched three to give Temple its third straight win.  This is the second straight game that the two have scored a majority of the Owls' goals.  Senior Megan Condon tallied three points on the day with one goal and two assists.  TU improves to 9-6 overall and 5-1 in the Atlantic 10, while UMass falls to 5-11 and 1-5 in Conference play.   

Samantha Sepulveda and Shelley Boyle both scored twice for UMass, while Kerri Connerty dished a team high two assists.

UMass began the scoring early in the contest when Kerri Connerty found Lindsay Cassell for Cassell's 18^th goal of the season at 26:17.  After several unsuccessful attempts, including a post shot that actually caused the goal cage to collapse, Glavin scored the equalizer at 16:36 after taking a pass from Johna Capaldo.  The Minutewomen did not waste any time taking back the lead, as they scored just nine seconds later.  Kathleen Typadis caught the draw and sprinted down the field, blasting a shot past TU goalie Megan McLouth at 16:37.  That would be the last time that UMass would lead however, as the Owls went on to score four straight goals to take the lead into halftime.  Berkley Summerlin found Frengs for the tying goal at 11:53.  Condon scored her sixth goal of the season at 7:07 and then earned helpers on Frengs and Glavin's subsequent goals to give Temple a 5-2 advantage at the break.

Casey Cech continued the TU scoring run early in the second half, converting a free position shot after just 35 seconds had ticked off the clock.  Frengs struck again at 26:03 before Sepulveda ended the Owl scoring run at 22:24.  Cassell found a cutting Sepulveda for the Minutewomen's third goal of the game.  Glavin struck again at 16:41 for an 8-3 Temple lead but Sepulveda cut the Owl advantage to four goals with an unassisted tally at 15:54.  Temple refused to cave, outscoring UMass, 4-2 down the stretch for the 12-6 final.  Katie Yori scored two of the final four goals for the Owls, while Frengs and Cech split the other two. 

Megan McLouth totaled five saves in goal, while Lauren McCarthy stopped 8 shots.

Temple wraps up the regular season on Sunday against George Washington at 1:00 p.m.  The game will also mark Senior Day for seniors Megan McLouth and Megan Condon.
