#16 WOMEN'S LACROSSE NEARLY TOPPLES #3 PRINCETON, 10-8

PRINCETON, N.J.-Despite a three-goal performance by Temple leading scorer Allison Frengs, #3 Princeton ended #16 TU's three-game winning streak on Wednesday night, topping the Owls, 10-8, in Princeton. Temple falls to 4-3 overall, while the Tigers improve to 7-2 on the season.
Temple, looking nothing like the team that lost at home to Princeton 19-6 last season, controlled much of the last 15 minutes of the first half after falling behind 2-1 on Elizabeth Pillion's goal with 17:29 on the clock. Corey Leader and Johna Capaldo scored in a 1:14 span midway through the half to give the Owls a 3-2 lead, and the Tigers were fortunate to tie the game 3-3 at halftime with a tally with 36 seconds remaining.
Frengs struck first in the second half, giving Temple a slight 4-3 edge. However, Lindsey Biles went on to earn one goal and assist on two others, sparking a three goal Tiger run for a 6-4 lead. Patty Glavin's goal with 16:38 left on a free-position shot pulled Temple within 6-5, but Biles and Ingrid Goldberg then scored similar goals for Princeton after that, dodging from behind the net to the left side of the cage, to put the Tigers ahead 8-5.

The Owls would again make it close, pulling within 8-7 with 5:56 left when Frengs scored twice on identical plays in a 39-second span, but Elizabeth Pillion's unassisted goal from behind the cage with 4:45 left and Biles' free-position goal with 2:55 on the clock put Princeton back ahead by three. Berkeley Summerlin scored an unassisted goal with 2:23 remaining to try and mount a Temple comeback but it was too late, as the Tigers rolled to their seventh straight win over the Owls.
Megan McLouth earned eight saves in goal. The Tigers outshot Temple 27-19, but 16 of Temple's 19 shots were on goal.
Temple returns home to take on A-10 and Philly rival Saint Joseph's on Friday at 5 p.m. on the Hawk's home turf.
