PHILADELPHIA -- Three regular season conference champions and one second place finisher highlight the 2005 Temple women's soccer schedule. The Owls, who are looking to improve on last season's 4-14 record, open their season at Rutgers on August 26. Rutgers is coming off a 9-10-1 season in which it finished seventh in the Big East.
Dayton, the 2004 A-10 regular season and tournament champion, and participant of the 2004 Women's College Cup, will play host to the Owls on October 2. TU will also visit Fairleigh Dickson, winner of the Northeast Conference in 2004 on September 4, and Lehigh, which finished second in the Patriot League last season. Temple's newest A-10 opponent and 2004 Conference USA champion, Saint Louis will play the Owls on October 7 at Ambler Field.
Other tough non-conference contests will include Delaware (9-6-3, 7th in the Colonial), and Long Island, (9-7-2, 5th in the NEC). Temple takes on city rival Penn in non-conference play on October 12, while hosting La Salle on October 14 and Saint Joseph's on October 21 in A-10 action.
The Atlantic 10 slate includes home dates against Saint Louis, Duquesne La Salle, George Washington, and Saint Joseph's. TU will visit Xavier, Dayton, St. Bonaventure and Fordham in A-10 road action.
