LONG ISLAND TOPS TEMPLE, 3-0, IN WOMEN'S SOCCER

BROOKLYN, NY -- After an impressive performance against Delaware State last Sunday, the Temple Owls fell to Long Island in women's soccer Friday night, 3-0. Senior Meghann McCormick and junior Selima Berisha each logged a goal and an assist in the contest for LIU.
Temple started off strong, attempting three shots on goal in the first four minutes of play. Long Island responded with 11 shots on goal. Neither team was able to net a goal in the exciting first half, leaving the game scoreless.
The Blackbirds (4-4) came back in the second half with Berisha scoring the first goal in the 59th minute of play off of a pass from the left dished by McCormick. McCormick then found the net in the 81st minute off of a feed from Berisha. Junior Erica Chong secured the win, scoring the final goal at 83:33.
Freshmen Jenna Rankin, Charisma Wright and senior Jaclyn Conn each registered a shot on goal. The Blackhawks out shot the Owls (1-6) 20-4.
Temple next faces off against the Lehigh Mountain Hawks on September 25 at the Ronald J. Ulrich Sports Complex.
