WOMEN'S SOCCER FALLS TO LEHIGH, 2-0

BETHLEHEM, PA -- The Temple women's soccer team fell to Lehigh, 2-0, on Sunday in a non-conference match-up at the Ulrich Sports Complex.
The Mountain Hawks (8-1-1) struck first in the 20th minute of play as sophomore midfielder Shannon Lockwood sent the ball up the field to forward Melissa Montalvo. Montavlo then blasted the ball past Temple goalkeeper Tiffany Kasunich from 30 yards out.
Lehigh added an insurance goal in the 88th minute when sophomore Michaela Pawlewicz scored unassisted. Pawlewicz nailed a free kick and found the back of the net for her first score of the season.
In goal, Kasunich registered eight saves while Lehigh's keeper, Julie Kafka, recorded four. The Mountain Hawks out shot the Owls (1-7-0), 25-6. Temple's Katrina Lynch, Kaitlin Gavaghan, Darlene Beamon and Stephanie Vietry each took a shot on goal.
The shutout was Lehigh's eight of the season for a new program record.
The Owls next travel to Xavier for their Atlantic 10 Conference opener on Friday, September 30 at 7:00 pm.
