Own Goal Dooms Temple in 1-0 Double Overtime Loss At Duquesne

PITTSBURGH, PA - Temple sophomore keeper Tiffany Kasunich faced 26 shots and made nine saves in goal, but it was an inadvertent own goal in the second overtime that was the difference in a 1-0 Duquesne win over the visiting Owls Friday night. Temple falls to 3-12-0 overall and 0-6-0 in Atlantic 10 play while Duquesne improves to 4-7-2, 3-2-1.

After an evenly played first half, the Dukes dominated play in the second stanza as Faye Rasmussen set a school record for shots in a game with 11, but neither team could penetrate the net and the contest went to overtime.

After a scoreless first overtime, a Duquesne play into the box was deflected into the net in the 104th minute by a Temple defender. Senior goalkeeper Ginny Bondi made three saves for her second shutout.

The Owls had 10 shots in the contest with senior Trish Dalton leading the Cherry and White with four attempts at goal.

Temple next travels to Saint Louis for a 2:00 p.m. (EST) showdown with the Billikens.
