PHILADELPHIA-The 20th-ranked Temple women's lacrosse team will open the season against two ACC opponents ranked in the Top 10 when they travel to the University of North Carolina and Virginia this weekend.  The Tarheels are ranked #6 in the preseason IWLCA poll, while the Cavaliers are #5.

The Owls look for revenge on Friday at 5 p.m. when they face UNC in Chapel Hill.  In last season's contest, Allison Frengs scored a late goal to bring Temple within one tally of then #8 UNC but it was not enough as the Tar Heels responded with two goals to defeat the Owls, 10-6 in TU's 2005 season opener.

Temple then travels to Charlottsville, Virginia for a game against UVA on Sunday, February 26, at 1 p.m.  The then #4 Cavaliers defeated Temple last season, 20-5, in Philadelphia, behind four goals and two assists by UVA's Tyler Leachman.  Johna Capaldo was the high scorer for then #16 Temple, netting both of the Owls' goals in the second half.  Megan Condon dished a team-high two assists on the day.  Goalie Megan McLouth stopped eight of UVA's 29 shots.

The Owls are picked to finish first in the Atlantic 10 and begin the 2006 season ranked #20 by Inside Lacrosse Magazine.
