WOMEN'S TENNIS SWEEPS DOUBLEHEADER

3.19.06 | Women's Tennis

JERSEY CITY, NJ -- The Temple women's tennis team drove up the turnpike Sunday morning to play a rare doubleheader.  The Owls swept past host St. Peter's and visiting Providence to improve their record to 9-7 on the season.

In the nightcap, Temple bested the Peahens, 3-2.  The team's split the four singles matches in the shortened format with Yuri Kurashima and Sharanya Pattabi winning for TU at the first and second positions.  Felicia Frazier and Barbara Oria Boer posted the deciding point, taking the lone doubles slot, 6-0, 6-0.

Against Providence, head coach Traci Green's charges won all four singles slots.  Kursahima and Pattabi won by identical 6-1, 6-0 scores.  Frazier took the third position, 6-1, 6-2 while Oria Boer completed the sweep with a 6-0, 6-2 win at number four.   The Friars won the doubles point.

Temple next plays at George Washington on March 24.
