CAPALDO'S THREE LEADS WOMEN'S LACROSSE OVER ODU, 6-5

NORFOLK, VA- Leading scorer Johna Capaldo netted three goals to lead the Temple women's lacrosse team to a 6-5 victory over the Old Dominion Monarchs on Saturday afternoon in Virginia. Temple improves to 3-4 on the season, while the Monarchs fall to 2-3.
Corey Leader and Casey Cech each added goals for the Owls, while Patty Glavin, Katie Yori, Berkley Summerlin and Allison Frengs all dished one assist. Catlin Gregory stopped 13 shots in the cage for Temple.
The Owls jumped to an early 3-1 lead heading into half time, but ODU netted a goal in the first two minutes of the second half, narrowing the score 3-2. Temple then grabbed another goal; before the Lady Monarchs answered to keep the score close 4-3 Temple.
With 10 minutes to play, the Owls knocked in back-to-back goals pulling away 6-3. In the last four minutes, the Lady Monarch's rally back and cut Temple's lead to one after Ashley Stanwick and Kelly Kimener foundd the net and each picked up a goal.
With the score 6-5, and less than two minutes on the clock, the Lady Monarchs grabbed possession of the ball off the tip following Kimener's goal and attempted to take the game into overtime. Temple blocked ODU's attempt at the game tying goal and gained possession of the ball as time expired.
The Owls continue their road stand as they travel to Rutgers to face the Scarlet Knights on March 30 at 7 p.m.
