3.9.06 | Softball

CLEARWATER, FL -- Freshman Nikki Lee went 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored, but the Temple softball team could not overcome University of Illinois-Chicago's hot bats, falling to the Flames, 10-2, Thursday morning at the ADIDAS Invitational hosted by the University of Southern Florida.  The Owls, 0-1 in the tourney, fall to 2-9 for the season.

UIC jumped off to a 4-0 lead, scoring runs in the first inning off starter Katie Burdeaux (1-3).  Temple made it 4-1 when freshman Burdeaux doubled home Nikki Lee in the top of the fourth.  The Flames were scoreless in the fourth.

Junior Kelly Swartwood logged the Owl's second run of the game on a balk, pinch running for first baseman Adrienne Repsher in the fifth.  UIC responded with three runs in the fifth and sixth, invoking the eight-run rule and ending play.

The Owls continue play at the Clearwater Invitational with a game against Buffalo on Thursday afternoon at 1:00 pm.
