STATEN ISLAND, NY -- The Temple Owls fell to the Wagner Seahawks in both games of their doubleheader on Wednesday.  The Seahawks, currently tied for first place in the Northeast Conference and on a 10-game win streak, beat the Cherry and White 11-6 and 6-5. The losses drop the Owls to 13-21 for the season.

After each team failed to score in the first two innings Temple broke out for five runs in the top of the third. The Owls recorded six hits in the inning, including four with two outs.  Sophomore Brittany Burks was the first Owls to find home plate. After Burks singled to the right side, she moved to second off of a single from freshman Katie Burdeaux. Junior Makeala Compton was walked. With the bases loaded, freshman Danielle Fagan doubled to left center for three RBI. Fagan advanced to third on the throw. Fagan then scored off of a double by junior Adrienne Repsher. Repsher scored the last run of the inning, advancing home on a RBI single by freshman Courtney Norene.

The Seahawks answered right back in the bottom of the inning scoring four runs of their own. The Green and White would force in three runs by drawing bases loaded walks, while freshman Andrea Lazzari knocked in another with a single to center.  The Seahawks tied it up in the fourth and the Owls were unable to get back the advantage they had in the beginning of the game. Wagner came back in the fifth and sixth innings with six runs. Temple could only respond with one from junior Brandie Mora off of a two-out double by Burks.

The Cherry and White held their own in game two of the twinbill. it was the Seahawks turn to start first as they jumped out early with a five runs in the second. As Wagner did in the first game, Temple responded in game two with a five-run fourth to tie the game. A double by Repsher brought home Mora, who was pinch-running for Compton. Two infield bunts and a throwing error would help lead to the additional runs by Owl senior Lauren Evans, Norene and Burks. The Seahawks scored the game-winner in the bottom of the seventh for the win.

The Owls next take on Atlantic 10 Conference rivals, the George Washington Colonials (22-20, 3-9 A-10) in a doubleheader on Friday at Ambler Field. First pitch is scheduled  for 2:00 PM.
