WOMEN'S TENNIS DROPS 6-1 MATCH AT UMASS

4.2.06 | Women's Tennis

SOUTH HADLEY, MA -- Junior Yuri Kurashima won her first singles match in straight sets, but that was the lone point the Temple women's tennis team would record in a 6-1 loss at Atlantic 10 Conference rival Massachusetts Sunday afternoon.  The Owls fall to 9-10 on the season.

Kurashima, who posted her team-best 17th singles win against nine losses, defeated Masha Pozar, 6-4, 6-2.  She is now 9-3 at first singles since moving up from the second slot due to an injury to senior Ana Maslesa.

Freshman Felicia Frazier and junior Barbara Oria Boer teamed to post a win at second doubles, 8-2.  Frazier lost a hard-fought match at fourth singles in a super tie-breaker, 7-5, 0-6, 1-1 (2-7).  She is now 13-8 on the season.

Temple is now off for 10 days until traveling to Old Dominion for a 1:00 p.m. match on April 12.
