MONROEVILLE, PA -- The Temple women's tennis team begins play at the 2006 Atlantic 10 Conference Women's Tennis Championship Friday at Club 4 Life with an 8:00 a.m. match against Fordham. The winner win take on top-seed Richmond later that day (approx. 3:30 p.m.).

Second-year head coach Traci Green's Owls are the eighth seed in the tournament.  They enter play with a 10-11 overall mark, 1-3 against A-10 competition.  Senior Ana Maslesa, who suffered a broken arm early in the season, is back after a seven-week lay-off.  The former number one all-conference singles player is now seeing action at the number two slot.  Junior Yuri Kurashima leads the Owls with a 19-9 record, including an 11-3 mark since moving up to the top slot.
