LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ -- The Temple Owls came out swinging in their game against Rider, downing the Broncs, 11-7. The Cherry and White hit three homers in the contest. The win improves the Owls' record to 16-21.

Temple kicked off the scoring in the first inning. Sophomore Brittany Burks singled to centerfield and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Jessica Rohn. Freshman Katie Burdeaux blasted the ball out over center field for the games first two-run homer. The Broncs responded with three runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning.

The Cherry and White answered back with three runs in the second. Freshman catcher Courtney Norene doubled to left-center and senior Lauren Evans singled down the left field line, driving in Norene and tying the game. Rohn doubled down the left field line to bring Evans home to take the lead. A double from Burdeaux to right center plated Rohn.

Freshman Danielle Fagan opened the third inning with a solo homer. Sophomore Amanda Carver scored the game winner after singling to center field and stealing second. A double from Evans drove her in. A single from Burks allowed Evans to score.

The Broncs made a comeback in the fourth, scoring two runs. Freshman Katy Mills singled to right field. Jennifer Cullen singled down the right line, advancing Mills to second. Ashley Bouldon reached on a fielders choice but an error kept Mills scoring position. Subbing in for Ashleigh Porter, Owl pitcher Burdeaux walked Mills in. Cullen scored on a wild pitch, making the score 8-5. Temple managed to score one run in the fifth to further widen the score. Junior Adrienne Repsher found home plate off of a wild pitch.

Evans was responsible for the Owls' final two runs when she hit a homer to right field for the second two-run homer of the contest. The Broncs scored two in the seventh as well, but it was not enough to overcome the Owls. Freshman pitcher Ashleigh Porter was credited with the win.

Temple next travels to cross-town and Atlantic 10 rival Saint Joseph's tomorrow for doubleheader action against the Hawks. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 PM. The Owls return home for a doubleheader against La Salle on Sunday.
