#9 SPIDERS SPIN WEB AROUND TEMPLE LACROSSE, 13-2
4.7.06 | Women's Lacrosse
RICHMOND, VA- After playing its second top 10 opponent of the week, the Temple women's lacrosse team couldn't seem to find an answer for Richmond, as the Owls fell 13-2 on Friday afternoon. Temple falls to 4-6 on the season, 0-1 in A-10 play, while ninth-ranked Richmond improves to 10-2, 1-0 A-10.
The Spiders jumped out to an early 2-0 lead but Whitney Richards cut Richmond's lead to just one goal when she converted a free position shot at 14:37. That would be the closest the Owls would come however, as the Spiders rattled off 10 unanswered goals to take a 12-1 lead with 8:14 remaining in the game. Casey Cech was able to draw a foul in the eight meter arc and blast a shot past UR goalie Jackie Swansburg at 6:50 but it was too little too late as Temple dropped its second straight 13-2.
Caitlin Gregory and Bridget McMullan shared time in goal, earning five and two saves, respectively.
Mandy Friend dished four assists and scored one goal to lead Richmond, while Jenna Hubbard and Caroline McGuire each tallied three goals. Swansburg had seven saves in the win.
Temple continues its road stand on Sunday when the Owls face GW at 1 p.m.
