SOFTBALL CONTINUES WINNING STREAK, SWEEPS DAYTON IN A-10 DOUBLEHEADER

DAYTON, OHIO -- Temple swept an Atlantic 10 doubleheader by scoring the game-winning run in their final at bat of a 10-inning, 5-4 game two win. The Owls took the first game by scoring twice in the seventh for a 3-2 win. Temple has now won its last four games, improving to 11-16 for the season and 4-2 in the Atlantic 10.
Things looked bleak for the Owls in game one when they entered the seventh inning trailing 2-0. With one out in the seventh, the Cherry and White got a double by senior Lauren Evans and a walk from freshman Courtney Norene. A double courtesy of junior Adrienne Repsher got the Owls on the board. With runners on second and third, sophomore Amanda Carver hit a grounder to third and the Flyers came home to try and cut down the tying run. As the ball and runner arrived together, the ball squirted to the backstop, allowing two runs to score on the play. The Flyers were unable to get back on the board, and the game ended, 3-2, in

Neither team could get back on the board until the Cherry and White found a way in the 10th inning. Junior Makeala Compton singled to center. She was sacrificed to second by Burdeaux and scored on a single by Danielle Fagan.
