PHILADELPHIA - Senior offensive tackle Elliot Seifert has been honored as Temple's Scholar-Athlete Award winner by the Philadelphia Chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame.  The Reading, Pa. native received the award at the organization's annual banquet, held Wednesday evening, May 10, at the Connelly Center on the Villanova Campus.

A biology major, Seifert was a named to the Big East Conference All-Academic team in 2003 and 2004 and has been cited on both the Dean's List and Athletic Director's Honor Roll at Temple.  He enters the 2006 season having started all 21 games he played the past two seasons.  As a redshirt freshman in 2003, Seifert started the season-opener at Penn State but suffered an ankle in the contest that sidelined him for the remainder of the season.

In addition to his performance on the field and the classroom, Seifert is very active in community service.  As part of the Owl Outreach program, he has visited elementary hospitals, mentored children and performed various works in the community.
