TEMPLE PLACES FIVE ON ATLANTIC 10 ALL-CONFERENCE WOMEN'S LACROSSE TEAMS

PHILADELPHIA - Senior Corey Leader and juniors Casey Cech and Allison Frengs have been voted to the 2006 Atlantic 10 Women's Lacrosse All-Conference First Team in a poll conducted among the Conference's head coaches. Senior Nicole Cataldo and sophomore Berkley Summerlin received Second Team honors. Cataldo was also named to the A-10 All-Academic Team.

Leader finished the regular season as Temple's scoring leader, netting 30 goals and dishing nine assists for 39 points. Her four goal and three assist performance against St. Bonaventure helped the Owls to a 19-9 win and ensure a #2 seed in the A-10 Tournament. The senior attacker scored 19 goals and had three assists in five Conference games, including three games where she netted at least four tallies. A member of the 2004 A-10 All-Tournament Team, Leader had a career-high five goals in the Owls' 11-10 victory at Massachusetts.

Cech was third on the squad in scoring this season, netting 28 goals and 14 assists for 42 points. Her seven point performances against Brown (two goals, five assists) and Saint Joseph's (three goals, four assists) helped to secure big wins for the Owls, but it was her performance at Massachusetts that was crucial to TU's success this season. Cech had three goals, including the game-winner in the final minutes of the game. The junior midfielder also led the team in groundballs (41) and was third in draw controls (22) and caused turnovers (14). She was named to the 2004 A-10 All-Tournament Team.

The defending Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Year, Frengs was second on the team in scoring with 28 goals and 15 assists. She netted a season-high five goals against the Bonnies and had four goals and one assist to propel Temple to a win over George Washington. A member of the 2005 A-10 All-Conference Team, Frengs is ranked second in groundballs (36) and draw controls (30) and is third in caused turnovers with 14.

Cataldo has started every game of her four-year Temple career and finished the regular season with 19 goals, two assists, 28 groundballs, 15 caused turnovers and 16 draw controls. The midfielder netted a season-high three goals against Penn and Saint Joseph's and had two goals in four other games. A member of the 2004 A-10 All-Conference Team, Cataldo excells off the field as well. She was voted to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches' Association (IWLCA) National Honor Roll last season and has earned a spot on Temple's Athletic Director's Honor Roll with a 3.54 grade point average.

Summerlin was a strong presence in the Temple midfield this season, leading the Owls in caused turnovers with 17 and ranking among the top in groundballs (24) and draw controls (22). Starting in every game, the sophomore scored five goals and dished six assists, with a season-high two goals coming against Saint Joseph's. A great mark-up defender, Summerlin came up big in every game for Temple this season.

TU enters the 2006 A-10 Tournament as the #2 seed after posting a 9-7 overall record and a 5-2 mark in A-10 play. The Owls will face St. Bonaventure in the semi-final round on Friday, May 5 at 3:30 at George Washington's Mount Vernon Sports Complex.
